Citrus Springs, Florida is a master planned community located in the northern section of Citrus county.  While Citrus Springs is a deed-restricted community, properties located within the Citrus Springs development are not subject to any mandatory membership in or assessment rights by any HOA, Community Association or Civic Association.
Citrus Springs is platted for 35,000 lots with about 32,000 set aside for residential use.  Developed lots are served by a central water system. Other zoning includes commercial, churches, hospital and medical, and parks and recreation.

Citrus Springs is served by Citrus County Schools.  Residents are divided between Citrus Springs Elementary and Central Ridge Elementary.  All residents are zoned to Citrus Springs Middle School.    Portions of the development are zoned to Citrus High School, Crystal River High School, and Lecanto High School.  The State College of Central Florida has a campus in nearby Lecanto.

Medical facilities in Citrus Springs include the Citrus Springs Family Dentistry, Citrus Primary Care, and nearby Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center as well as two hospitals in Ocala.
Citrus Springs has a memorial library with over 20,000 items, two 18-hole golf courses, public tennis courts, baseball field, parks, playgrounds, a large community center, numerous clubs and activities, and sections of the 46-mile paved Withlacoochee State Trail, used by residents and visitors for walking, jogging, skating and biking.

Additionally, Citrus Springs has twelve churches, several gas stations & convenience stores including a large Dollar General and Family Dollar, businesses, restaurants, pizzeria, bank, doctors' offices, a fire department & EMT unit.

The Citrus Springs Civic Association also organizes youth activities which include: after school events, organized sports clubs such as T-ball and soccer, Sunday School, a variety of youth clubs and activities sponsored by the local churches, the Wesley Jones Park with baseball diamond, basketball court, playground fun sets, and picnic pavilion. And don’t miss the Citrus Springs Christmas Parade, Annual Christmas Gathering, and Breakfast with Santa.

One of the most popular activities in Citrus Springs is golf. The Citrus Springs Golf Course offers a fully stocked pro shop and lush greens appealing to all golfers, from beginners to pros. Tee times may be booked up to 7 days in advance by members and up to 5 days in advance by non-members.  The "Fairway Cafe" offers a fully stocked bar and seats 60 guests. Customers can enjoy dining in the restaurant or opt for the lanai overlooking the 1st tee. 

The 18-hole layout and rolling terrain of the course is reminiscent of North Carolina courses. Several holes have sharp doglegs approaching elevated greens which require precise iron play. Four sets of tees allow golfers of all skill levels to enjoy this course.
